Former Raider Curtis Out 8 - 10 Weeks

The 49ers got the news on Kevin Curtis' injured knee, and it wasn't all positive. The rookie safety from Texas Tech will undergo surgery on his MCL tear that will sideline him an expected 8 - 10 weeks. Curtis had been productive in his early action with the team, posting six tackles against Washington and adding two more before leaving the Kansas City game.

The 49ers are currently left with three healthy safeties with experience: Zack Bronson, Ronnie Heard, and Tony Parrish. Also on the roster are Al Blades, who is recovering from an ankle injury, and undrafted free agent Brian Smith. The team has toyed with the idea of moving cornerback Rashad Holman to safety.
