Police Seek Driver in Fatal Hit and Run

Lubbock Police continue the search for a driver in a deadly hit and run accident.

Doctors pronounced 31-year-old John David Elam dead at University Medical Center Thursday morning. Investigators say Elam was walking north around 2:30 a.m Saturday when someone hit him on Quaker Avenue and fled the scene.

Authorities say the accident would have caused extensive damage to the front passenger side of the vehicle that hit Elam. Investigators don't want to rule any vehicle out, but evidence found near the scene suggests a 2004 to 2007 Dodge Ram pickup may be the vehicle involved. Friends plead for the driver in the accident to come forward.

"Tell somebody, you know if it was their family member or somebody that they loved, then they would want to know," said Elam's roommate Amanda Howard.

If you know anything that can help investigators find who's responsible, please call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000.
