Lugo Out for the Season

Houston Astros shortstop Julio Lugo will be lost for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery on Wednesday to repair a broken left forearm. Lugo was injured after being hit by a Kerry Wood pitch Monday night during a game with the Chicago Cubs. Doctors inserted a small plate, with six screws, to anchor the fracture.

Team officials say Lugo will be in a soft cast for two to four weeks and a full recovery is expected to take about 10 weeks. The club recalled shortstop Adam Everett from AAA New Orleans on Tuesday to take Lugo's spot.
