Hurricane Ike is the reason Lubbock City Council met in emergency session Monday.
The council voted in favor of spending up to half a million dollars. The city expects to get fully reimbursed by the federal government.
The city agreed to take hurricane evacuees, if needed, at governor Rick Perry's request. The cots and emergency supplies are already in place if evacuees come to Lubbock.
