Lubbock Police Identify Suspect in Deadly Hit and Run Case

New developments in a fatal hit and run investigation. Lubbock Police have identified a suspect and authorities have issued a warrant for his arrest.

The warrant calls for the arrest of Camera Livesay, 21. He is charged with failure to stop and render aid. As of 4pm Tuesday, he was not in police custody.

Livesay is accused of hitting John David Elam, 31, on August 30. Police say Elam was walking near 13th and Quaker around 2:30am, when Livesay allegedly hit Elam with his 2006 Dodge Ram pick-up truck and fled the scene. Investigators found a right headlight assembly near the scene.

Authorities found the suspect truck at a local body shop last week. Livesay is the registered owner, and trace analysis experts with the Texas Department of Public Safety say the headlight found at the scene belonged to the same truck.

Police say Livesay was intentionally trying to alter and destroy evidence by having the truck damage fixed, and knowing authorities were involved in a hit and run investigation.
