In a sign of good times for the Lubbock economy, the unemployment rate was down last month. The rate fell from 3.8% in June to 3.6% in July. Only Bryan-College Station had a lower rate at 2.2%. McAllen had the highest rate at 13.3%.
As proof of the improving job market, more than 120 jobs are coming to Lubbock. At a news conference Thursday morning, Market Lubbock announced four local companies will create 121 new jobs.
The jobs will add nearly $11 million in salaries over the next three years to the Lubbock economy. The companies are: All American Tees, ArmTech Insurance Services, Caprock Home Healthcare, and First Care.
