Hub City on Standby for Evacuees

Hurricane Ike has strengthened back to a category two storm as it edges closer to the Texas coast.

While South Texas officials have started evacuating the first of millions of coastal residents, none are expected to be coming to the Hub City just yet. However the city of Lubbock is ready and willing to receive those evacuees if and when they arrive.

Late Wednesday morning, the city was notified that plans to bring people to Lubbock were delayed and the city currently remains on standby.
