"Hi Darren, this is Ana Lee Sanchez." She just checked into her Lubbock hotel room , and minutes later, Ana Lee's back on the go. "I'm getting ready to leave for another event." An event that has become the daily norm for Ana Lee and her campaign partner, Amy. They've been touring across Texas, gathering votes for Ana Lee's father, Texas Gubernatorial Candidate Tony Sanchez.
"It's pressure, that I think maybe I'm putting on myself because this is a very serious undertaking and I want to help my father as much as I can," says Ana. Helping dad, seems to run in the family for Ana Lee and her three brothers. "We're all campaigning, sometimes individually of each other, sometimes together it's definitely a family effort."
It's been a family effort from the beginning. When Tony Sanchez decided to run for office, he turned to the people he knows best for advice. "He definitely wanted all of our opinions and our input and he wanted to make sure we were all on board, and we were right away," Ana says.
With the primaries coming up in November, Ana Lee knows it's getting down to crunch time. But win or lose, election results will never change one thing, "To me he's just our dad, he's first and foremost a father, and the priorities he has today and the issues he's running on have been important to him his entire life," she says.
Ana Lee Sanchez will be finishing her west Texas campaign tour, on Friday in Hereford, Texas.
