Mayor Martin called this a "centennial event" as this type of flooding occurs in Lubbock once every 100 years. City and county leaders advise drivers to stay off the roads if possible. Certain city & county services, such as trash pickup, will be affected Friday.

Meanwhile, as Lubbock deals with local flooding we do remain on standby to receive hurricane evacuees if needed.
