Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin has declared the city to be in a state of emergency. Lubbock County Judge Tom Head has declared Lubbock County to be win a state of emergency as well.
Mayor Martin called this a "centennial event" as this type of flooding occurs in Lubbock once every 100 years. City and county leaders advise drivers to stay off the roads if possible. Certain city & county services, such as trash pickup, will be affected Friday.
Meanwhile, as Lubbock deals with local flooding we do remain on standby to receive hurricane evacuees if needed.
