Massive Rain Calls Off Lubbock Schools for First Time - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

For the first time, kids across the South Plains enjoyed a day off of school due to the massive amount of rain. 

Lubbock Independent School District says the main reason school was cancelled was safety for drivers.  Another reason school was cancelled was about a dozen buildings in the district experienced some flooding.  Some of the schools were Dunbar Middle School, Hardwick Elementary, Hutchinson Middle School, and O.L. Slaton Middle School.          

We have crews on campuses pumping water and checking roofs to make sure we will be in good shape on Monday," said Nancy Sharp with LISD. 

Frenship School District and Lubbock Cooper were also closed Friday.
