Car Crash Traps Woman Under Water

A woman was so badly hurt in a crash southeast of Lubbock that EMS first thought she was dead.

Authorities including the DPS tell NewsChannel 11 the crash happened around 6:15 p.m. Friday at the intersection of County Road 2500 and Farm to Market Road 1585.  DPS says a passenger car ran a stop sign and was hit by large pickup. The car landed upside down in flood water and the woman driver was trapped inside for an estimated 10 minutes.

EMS was able to get vital signs before taking her to UMC. Authorities tell us she might be pregnant.

Roger Rogers, who lives nearby, is upset by the crash.  He says, "We live out here and we see this kind of stuff all the time. Going down the highway, people pull out in front of you for no reason.  They don't understand that you're doin' 60 to 75 mph and you can't stop on a dime. You see accidents like this all the time."

A total of three people went to UMC.  DPS had not yet released their names Friday night.
