A collision in southeast Lubbock County turned deadly Saturday. The Department of Public Safety tells NewsChannel 11 that 35-year-old Tammy Lynn Krick of Joshua, Texas died Saturday morning at University Medical Center. Authorities say she was seven months pregnant, and her unborn child could not be saved.
Investigators determined Krick disregarded a stop sign at County Road 2500 and Farm to Market 1585 Friday evening. A pick-up pulling a trailer smashed into Krick's Ford, Mustang. The car landed upside down in water and she was trapped inside for about 10 minutes.
Neighbors in the area say they've seen several serious accidents around that crossing. "We live out here and we see this kind of stuff all the time, going down the highway people pull out in front of you for no reason, they don't understand that you're doing 60 to 75 mph and you can't stop on a dime. You see accidents like this all the time," Roger Rogers said.
The driver of the pick-up, 59-year-old Stephen Corp from Abilene, was treated and released. He and his passenger suffered minor injuries.
