Local Officials Assess Damage at Ransom Canyon - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

A follow up on a story NewsChannel 11 first brought you Monday night.  Local officials continue to study the dam at Ransom Canyon. NewsChannel 11 obtained aerial photos taken by the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department.

Ransom Canyon was already studying the need for a new dam. But then the historic rains and flood hit last week. Not only did water overtop the dam by a couple of feet, but also debris slammed into the concrete barrier.

Now the concern is whether or not the dam is structurally sound. As officials get the results of the recent inspection, we'll pass them along.
