Also the main lanes of Interstate 27 have flooded a couple of times. Some of you found out the hard way last week that water can now overtake the interstate. It's because the pipes and pumps under the interstate are 30-years old and need to be replaced.
Randy Hopman, TxDOT Engineer, says, "We do have temporary pumps to help out with capacity and that has worked up until last week when we had the incredible eight inches of rainfall"
And the brand new pumps will soon replace the temporary pumps. Most of the safety changes were completed by TxDOT prior to the spring of this year.
