Flu Shots for Pregnant Women

Flu season is just around the corner, and while there is no approved flu vaccine for newborns, experts say giving the flu shot to pregnant women can protect their babies from the bug.

This comes from Johns Hopkins University where researchers studied 340 pregnant women in Bangladesh who got either a flu shot or the pneumonia vaccine.  They found that infants born to mothers who got a flu shot had a 63% reduced risk for developing the flu and had a lower risk for respiratory illness and fever.
