Acing inspections, with zero critical violations this week are Frenship Crestview Elementary, O.L. Slaton Middle School, Tubbs Elementary and Wolffarth Elementary.
Ballenger Head Start had one critical violation. The inspector discovered a knife in the rack with a melted handle and dull, cracked tip. Defects can harbor bacteria and other organisms. Crews tossed the knife during inspection.
The health department also cited Bean Elementary for a similar violation. The inspector found slightly shredded plastic tongs on a rack. That, again, can harbor bacteria and micro-organisms. The tongs went into the trash during the inspection.
At Brown Elementary, the inspector saw a slightly soiled can opener blade on a prep table. They advised staff to place the opener in the wash.
Chipped and slightly soiled knives stored on a clean rack gave Hodges Elementary on critical violation. The inspector advised about bacterial growth and difficult sanitation and the knives were removed and discarded.
The health department cited Wheelock Elementary with two critical violations. An employee put on gloves without first washing their hands, and the inspector discovered a soiled, slotted spoon on the rack with clean utensils. Crews removed the spoon and washed it.
