Hale Center Pigskin Preview

The Owls are looking for their first district title since 1995. Head Coach Paul Chandler gets nine starters back from last year's 6 - 5 team. And coach and players agree, in order for the Owls to fly to the top of District 5-2A, they've got to put up a strong front.

"We're expecting good things with the running backs coming back. We've got experience, but we've got to work on the line a little bit, and hopefully we'll start winning after that," says Owl center Danny Ortiz.

Hale Center RB Willie Joe Johnson agrees. "Our offensive line is very young. We've got sophomores and freshmen, and we've got to put a lot of confidence in them, and we've got to pick them up. Otherwise, it won't be too good for us running backs," says Johnson.

"It does concern us. We have one senior back in Danny Ortiz, and we have four young people who are going to step up and take over for that offensive line. If we're going to have any success this year, it's got to start with the offensive line," Owl Head Coach Paul Chandler concludes.
