The Cats return 13 starters from last year's 6 - 4 team, and feel bigger size and increased strength will help them compete with the likes of Muleshoe, Brownfield, and Lubbock Cooper, not to mention the rest of the 2-3A field. It seems there's been an attitude adjustment in Littlefield that should come into play this season as well.
"We all get along pretty good. Last year, we didn't get along, and we all messed around. This year, we're not jacking around. The seniors are taking it pretty seriously since it's their last year," says Wildcat quarterback Eric Mendez.
Littlefield DE Clayton Swan agrees. "We didn't work very hard last year. We kind of lollygaged around in practices, but this year's different," says Swan.
"We're talking a lot more serious. We've got a lot more senior leadership. We're just trying to win a district championship. It's been six years," adds Wildcat DB Jonathan Peel.
"We really think they're serious about doing a good job this year. We've got a tough district just like always, but this whole group really wants to come out and give a good farewell in district play," Littlefield Head Coach Bryan Huseman.
