Learning Disability in School Could Be Due To Bad Vision

Posted:

Now that school is in full swing, have you noticed if your child appears to be struggling with school work?

Dr. David Redman, an Optometrist, reminds us that a child whose behavior changes at school or who has recently been labeled as having a learning disability. May instead just need to have their eyes checked. Dr. Redman says, "When children are diagnosed with a learning disability, about 60% of the time it's just a visual problem and then once they get their glasses, they come up to speed."

Dr. Redman says a quick eye check at the school or even at your pediatrician's office may not be enough to find some vision trouble. So before you panic over a bad report card, you might schedule your child for a vision exam.
