DPS Says Alcohol Contributed To Fatal Crash - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

Investigators with the Department of Public Safety say alcohol was a factor in a deadly accident in Castro County.  Arturo Cervantes,43, of Dimmitt died at Plains Memorial Hospital around 3 p.m. Friday.  His passenger, 25-year-old Hector Quintero remained hospitalized Saturday evening.  DPS reports he was in stable condition.

Investigators say Cervantes and Quintero were headed West on County Road 628 around   1:45 p.m. Friday, when Cervantes lost control and rolled the car two and a half times. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. Quintero was strapped in. Authorities say both men had been drinking before the accident.
