It looks like Ohio State will be down a starting receiver for Saturday's season opening game against Texas Tech. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel says that Chris Vance won't play because of an unspecified violation of team policy.
Vance is a senior who caught 34 passes for 605 yards and four touchdowns a year ago. He was Ohio State's second leading receiver. Vance isn't the only player who won't be suiting up for the Pigskin Classic. Tressel says three other players are facing legal problems and three others who are hurt.
Tressel declined to discuss Vance's case. He won't say how long Vance would be unavailable. Vance will be replaced by Chris Gamble, who will make his first career start.
