Two Volunteer Fire Departments Called to Area Grass Fire

A fire that started with burning trash quickly spread to engulf a nearby salvage yard just Northeast of Lubbock. The grass fire, near Idalou, went up at around 2 p.m. Thursday. Volunteers from Idalou and the Roosevelt Fire Departments fought the fire.

Idalou Assistant Fire Chief Russ Perkins says the fire burned for about an hour before it was brought under control.
