"Rockin' for Treasure" was a huge success. Remember, that was the concert NewsChannel 11 told you about last week to raise money for seven-year-old Treasure Downing. He is one of our little champions in the Children's Miracle Network. The show was Saturday, but even on Tuesday, checks were still coming in to help. Treasure lives with his grandfather since his mother and grandmother both died of cancer. A year later, Treasure was also diagnosed with cancer.
The highlight of the evening was when Treasure took the microphone. He talked for several minutes about trucks and the frustration of seal coating on our streets.
So far, Treasure fans have collected more than $5,000 from this event. His grandfather Harvey, accepted the check in tears. Harvey is raising this little boy on a single social security check and nurses tell NewsChannel 11, he never misses an appointment in Lubbock or Fort Worth where he goes for some treatments.
