FDA Urges Care When Giving Kids Medicine

Posted:

American pediatricians have recommended banning over the counter cough and cold medicines for young children because thousands of kids end up in the emergency room every year because of the over the counter drugs, mostly due to when the directions are not followed properly.

Now the Food and Drug Administration has rejected a ban on children's cough and cold medicine.   FDA officials say they are concerned that if parents cannot buy that, which is labeled for kids, they will just give them adult medicine instead, which would be even worse. The bottom line is that they are going to stay on store shelves but read the directions carefully.
