A gene previously linked to dyslexia may be involved in all reading problems. Previous studies have singled out a gene, called KIAA0319, which is present in most children with dyslexia.
A new study in the journal Psychiatry says that after reviewing more than 6000 elementary school kids, roughly 15% of them carry a mutated version of that same gene. Researchers emphasize the gene has nothing to do with memory or intelligence but only affects reading.
