There is now five down and three to go. Another escaped inmate is now in custody.
Amarillo Police, SWAT and US Marshals captured Larry McClendon Jr. on Saturday, October 4. Tips generated through America's Most Wanted reported sightings in the Amarillo area. During surveillance, the Amarillo Police Department and US Marshall's Service spotted McClendon as he was leaving an apartment complex in the 4700 Block of West 57th. McClendon fled and a short foot pursuit ensued, ending in his capture around 10 a.m.
McClendon was being sought by the Curry County Sheriff's Office following his escape with seven other inmates, from the Curry County Detention Center on August 24, 2008 in Clovis, New Mexico.
In addition to charges resulting from the escape, McClendon is pending charges for murder and aggravated robbery.
Warrants have been issued for each individual for escape.
The Curry County Crime Stoppers are offering rewards for information leading to the capture of the remaining three.
