21-year-old Travis Gilpin was given a DWI on June 21st after he was stopped for speeding. Assistant District Attorney Matt Powell says his office is aware of the new charge. Gilpin is already facing Intoxicated Assault charges for allegedly crashing his truck into a house.
10-year-old Sierra Hanson was injured in that accident last February, when she was pinned under the truck. She was hospitalized for ten days, but made a full recovery.
The DA's office has made an offer to Gilpin in exchange for a guilty plea to the Intoxicated Assault charge. Powell says it will be up to the judge to decide Gilpin's sentence on the DWI charge.
