Seven Texans who died in the World Trade Center attacks could soon have a memorial in their honor. It would be built in Austin at the state cemetery. The memorial would consist of two steel beams that used to be a part of the World Trade Centers. The memorial design competition is open only to Texans. The final choice will be unveiled at the state cemetery on September 11th. The memorial is expected to cost about $100,000, but the governor's office says all the money will come from private donations.

Also in Austin, Governor Rick Perry took time off from his re-election campaign on Tuesday to report for jury duty. In the end, attorneys excused the governor from the jury panel. The case involves a defendant's challenge of a speeding ticket.

If you're planning a trip to Dallas, you can expect tighter security at the airport. DFW and Love Field officials are working on ways to increase security because of recent lapses. On Sunday, a North Carolina woman was caught with a loaded gun in her carry-on bag at Philadelphia International Airport. The woman was arrested and the baggage screener was fired.
