Last week I said Lubbock City Council should try to reach an agreement with Tech Hockey that would keep the ice in Lubbock. And it appears this Thursday council will decide if hockey stays or goes. I hope they'll consider some of the feedback I've received before they decide.
One viewer writes:
"Nobody wants to pay higher taxes but sometimes making our city a better place to stay and return to, makes a small subsidy, like Ice Hockey, a win situation."
Another viewers says
"...I think it would be a CRIME for the city of Lubbock to let go a healthy sport and recreational outlet in a place with far too few options."
Others see it more of a problem caused by Tech Hockey. They say quote:
"...Their actions were a ploy to coerce the Lubbock City Council into giving them more of sweet heart deal than they already had...."
And then some say they can see both sides and want to know...
"....is there a solution short of terminating the program?"
Then there are the countless viewers who say they are affected by this directly. One dad writes:
"My son plays hockey & his decision to go to Texas Tech was because of the ice hockey program there."
As you can see, the decision to keep hockey in Lubbock effects more than just Tech Hockey, and as I said last week, if the difference is just $4,000, surely we can find a compromise.
We should have an answer at this Thursday's council meeting, so stay tuned.
