NewsChannel 11 has learned some interesting facts about Lubbock's well-being from the United Way. The United Way's annual status report says Lubbock's per capita income is approximately 9% lower than the state average and 19 % lower than the national average.
It also says Lubbock's number of confirmed child abuse victims last year was double of the state rate. The report also says juvenile cases of aggravated assault, burglary and vehicle theft are down but juvenile cases of sexual assault are up.
The United Way of Lubbock spends money for adult literacy, early child care and counseling with the hope of improving all these numbers.
