Lubbock County says its first year to participate in Texas Night Out was a huge success.
Similar to National Night Out, county officials spent Tuesday evening getting residents to become familiar with their neighbors and local law enforcement. Officials estimate that more than 500 residents showed up.
"It's important to us that the people out in the county know who we are and can put a face with the name of who they are calling. And I think the Sheriff was impressed that we did have a good turnout, we had a lot of participating agencies and i just think we had a really successful turnout," says Chief Paul Scarborough.
DPS and Sheriff's Deputies had robots and K9's units out on public display.
