Fans, Workers on Edge as Baseball Strike Deadline Looms

Businesses near Minute Maid Park in Houston rely on the Astros and the game to generate income. Another group with money riding on the players continuing to play is ballpark employees, such as vendors, ushers, and parking attendants. Many weren't in a talking mood on Thursday. Some say they were instructed not to speak to the press.

Fans worry that history is about to repeat itself from eight years ago, when the Astros were only a half game out of first place when players walked out in August 1994. On Thursday night, the Texas Rangers wrap up their three game series with Baltimore at the Ballpark in Arlington, and quite possibly, their last game of the season.
