Lubbock Man Pleads Guilty to Murder

A Lubbock man pleaded guilty to murder Monday, just minutes before his trial was scheduled to begin.

Alfredo Perez, 20, entered an open plea in the death of Javier Eduardo Castaneda, 15. The teen was gunned down outside Harwell Elementary in July 2007. Perez's open plea means the judge will have complete say in his sentencing. He faces up to life in prison.

Vincent Lee Sandoval is also charged with murder in his case. Police believe the shooting was gang related.
