DPS Drives Up Patrol For Labor Day Traffic Violators

Speeding, seat belt violations, and drunk drivers are just some of the things DPS troopers will be looking for. In order to do that, Director of Safety and Education Service, Corporal John Gonzalez says that DPS troopers will be out in full force this weekend as part of operation C.A.R.E., or Combined Accident Reduction Effort.

"Hopefully the C.A.R.E. project will comply with the traffic laws and not necessarily have an officer stop and do some law enforcement action such as writing a citation or arresting someone. So our goal is just for people to slow down, buckle up and don't drink and drive." Gonzalez said.

Operation C.A.R.E. lasts through Monday at midnight.
