It is a rare sight in the skies of Lubbock, but you may have caught a glimpse of them Tuesday afternoon. They are part of the U.S. Air forces Thunderbirds team. The Thunderbirds flew into the Hub City Tuesday, gearing up for this weekends Silent Wings Air Show. The jets gave the media a sample of what the public can expect this weekend, as they flew at speeds of about 500 mph over Lubbock. The air show is this Saturday and Sunday at 10:40 a.m. and 2:25 p.m. It will be on the west side of the Lubbock International Airport. Tickets in advance are $10 for adults and $4 for kids under 12. Tickets at the gate are $12 for adults and $5 for kids under 12. The Golden Knights will also be part of the show, jumping with parachutes from high in the sky.

NewsChannel 11 is joining with United Blood Services for "The Days of Remembrance" blood drive. The theme is remembering September 11th and the importance of giving blood. The event continues, through next Friday, Sept 13th. For information on donating blood or to set up an appointment you can call 797-6804. All donors will be given a free t-shirt.
