Three Lubbock burglary suspects are behind bars, thanks to the authorities and OnStar.
The Lubbock Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary call in southwest Lubbock County around noon Friday. The suspects allegedly stole a Chevrolet Tahoe from that residence, and continued on their crime spree.
At the next house, the homeowner surprised the trio and fired two gun shots. No one was injured, and the suspects got away. But with tracking help from OnStar, authorities caught up with the bandits, and captured them just minutes after they abandoned the stolen SUV.
"The officers had known some of these burglars in the past and were trying to put things together," said David Gutierrez, Lubbock County Sheriff. "It would not surprise me if additional burglaries would be cleared up as a result of these events."
Sheriff Gutierrez says one of the suspects had just bonded out of jail this week for another burglary charge. He says the magistrate will likely take that into consideration at his arraignment.
