New in Philadelphia for those who shiver at the thought of going to the dentist, the newest trend in dentistry is combining a tooth ache, with a foot massage. Actually, it's more than that. Some dental offices are now offering fancy coffee, Ipods, massage chairs, aroma therapy, facial massage and special hand treatments. This is sort of a dental spa, where they treat your teeth and your anxiety by offering a variety of soothing services.
Dr. John Thurber, DDS says, "When new patients come in they are amazed they are in a dental office, just from the decor, the design. It's a philosophy that we've put a lot of time and energy and research into creating a better experience and environment for our patients."
Dr. Thurber says the idea is to focus on fun instead of fear, because good dental care is more important. A little pampering might encourage patients to make those regular visits.
NewsChannel 11 does not know of any dentists around the Lubbock area that are pampering patients, but if this new trend comes to Lubbock, we'll let you know.
