Habitat for Humanity's Building Blitz

More than 800 volunteers came with hammers in hand for Habitat for Humanity's seven day "Building Blitz." The "Celebration of Solidarity" kicked off at 7:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

The goal is to complete 15 houses by the end of this week, then another 10 by November. Volunteers from across the community came together to build these houses, from Tech students to business leaders to church groups.

Volunteer coordinator Jettonne Buxkepmer says Habitat for Humanity is more than just building houses. "It just brings people really close together. You're working together and learning new skills, and of course, helping the families, which is so important," she says.

If you would like to lend a hand, you can stop by Duke and North Avenue U any time this week.
