The economy is taking its toll on families, especially women. That is according to the American Psychological Association that says women in particular are soothing their stress in ways that are counter productive, like eating too much or smoking more.
The Council for Relationships says it is beginning to see a trend in patients dropping therapy sessions in an effort to save money, something that could make emotional issues even more sensitive. The American Psychological Association says that before you cut out therapy ask about reduced services. If that is not an option, the group says ask your current therapist about switching to a mental health professional who would charge less.
