As trick-or-treaters hit neighborhood streets on Halloween night, parents can feel a little more at ease.
Lubbock County registered sex offenders, who are on probation and have restrictions regarding minors, are required to attend a Halloween education program Friday night.
That means they won't be home, during prime trick-or-treating hours. "We do this on Halloween night instead of other evenings because of the unique situation. With trick-or-treaters going door to door to stranger's houses and may not know that person is a sex offender," said Jennifer Mora, Lubbock County Corrections Department Supervisor.
However not every sex offender will be at this program. Those *not* on probation are not required to attend. So before sending your kids out on their annual candy hunt, make sure you check the link below to find out if there are any registered sex offenders in your neighborhood.
