September 11th Ceremonies Around the Hub City

The Lubbock Police Department will remember 9-11 with a flag raising ceremony at the Police Station. It will begin at nine in the morning with an address by Police Chief Claude Jones. The event concludes with a moment of silence and closing remarks from Sheriff David Gutierrez.

Also starting at nine, each of Lubbock's 14 fire stations will hold simultaneous bell ringing ceremonies to mark the exact moments when the towers collapsed. Each of the 343 firefighters names who died in the attacks will be read.

Local Girl Scout troops will hold a candlelight vigil at 6 p.m. at the Lubbock County Courthouse.

After the vigil you can get a little patriotic inspiration at the Freedom Fest. It's a concert at the West Texas Amphitheater featuring the band America. It starts at seven Wednesday night.

Most of the Lubbock area schools will begin their days with ceremonies in remembrance of 9-11. You can call your kids school to see what events are planned.

    Using Prayer to Observe September 11th
