Too many prairie dogs, that is the official ruling from the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality. The commission, formerly known as the TNRCC, cited the city in April for conditions that could possibly lead to ground water contamination, due to the large number of prairie dogs on the city farm.
TCEQ has now approved the City's plan for resolving the problem by removing the prairie dogs. The city plans to control the prairie dogs by relocating as many as possible and then poisoning the rest.
