It would be hard to appreciate a migraine but scientists are finding one good reason. It seems that women with migraines may have some protective effect against getting breast cancer, with their risk reduced by 30 percent. It is all because of hormones.
According to the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, too much estrogen can increase the risk of breast cancer. Migraines, though, are linked to too few hormones and may stop the growth of cancer. Researchers admit that it is interesting, but certainly not enough of a reason to stop breast cancer screenings.
