Governor Rick Perry has appointed Lloyd M. Garland of Lubbock to the State Office of Risk Management for terms to expire Feb. 1, 2013. The office reduces and controls risk by ensuring state agencies' ability to protect their employees, the public and the state's physical and financial assets.
Garland is a physician in private practice. He is the public member of the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors, a member of the Texas Judicial Foundation Board of Directors and American and Texas Medical associations. He is also a consultant with the Texas Board of Medical Examiners. Garland received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a medical degree from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.
Garland replaces Ron Beals of Tyler.
