More than 50 million Americans suffer from pain related conditions. With that in mind, the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center unveiled a new state of the art facility this morning to find solutions for pain sufferers.
The new international pain center spans a 12,700 square foot health care facility that includes everything from classrooms to research suites to operating rooms. "Texas Tech is internationally known for their work in pain management, taking care of patients from all over the world, educating residents and students about pain and doing research. This gives us a state of the art facility to really match all the progress we've made over the years," says Dr. Steven Berk, M.D., Dean of Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center's School of Medicine.
In Lubbock alone, the Texas Tech Pain Center sees about 7,000 patients each year, something that is expected to increase dramatically with the opening of this new center.
