UPDATE: Four Recovering, One Dead Following Hockley Co. Accident

Three members of a Levelland family were recovering in Lubbock hospitals Saturday night, following a fatal accident in Hockley County late Saturday morning.  77-year-old Albert Castillo Senior died following the crash 5 miles south of Levelland.

It happened on Farm to Market Road 300 at the Fairbanks curve.  Investigators with the Department of Public Safety tell NewsChannel 11 that Castillo was riding in a pick-up with his son, grandson, and great grandson around 11:00 a.m., when they collided with a sedan driven by 76-year-old Leonor Fuentez-Self of Morton.

Authorities say Self failed to yield the right of way at the intersection, and smashed in the passenger side of the pick-up, causing it to roll.  Self was recovering at Covenant Medical Center Saturday night; she suffered two broken legs.

56-year-old Albert Castillo Junior also suffered broken bones. He was in stable condition at Covenant Saturday night.  24-year-ol Steven Castillo suffered broken bones and a back injury.  He was recovering at UMC.  Four-year-old Ivan Castillo suffered cuts to the face. He was in stable condition at Covenant Saturday night.
