A Lubbock teen is in serious condition after her SUV was struck by a train around 3 a.m. Sunday.

Investigators are still piecing together what happened, but here's what we know so far. Police say 18-year-old Angie Ashby lost control of her Jeep near Southeast Drive and the South Loop.

The vehicle landed on the tracks and was struck by an oncoming train.

Ashby was taken to University Medical Center and has been upgraded to serious condition.

Ashby played basketball at Monterey High School and is currently a freshman at Texas Tech. And you may recognize the Ashby name - her father, Gary Ashby was a standout baseball player for Texas Tech in the mid 1970s. He was also Tech's first full-time baseball coach.

Her brother Taylor is currently on the Tech baseball team.
