The Lubbock Health Department has unleashed a new program at the animal shelter called "Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound." It Started Monday, so volunteers can go to the Lubbock Animal Shelter between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to walk a dog waiting to be adopted and get some good exercise.
"A lot of times we get burned out doing treadmill or bicycle. So this is just another way to get some exercise. The goal is to promote physical activity throughout the community and to get the dogs out, get them some fresh air and hopefully increase adoptions in the shelter as well," says Chris Rogers of the Lubbock Health Department.
The 'Walk a Hound, Lose a Pound' program is every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Lubbock Animal Shelter. If you would like to participate you can call the Lubbock Health Department at (806) 775-2719. The program is free, and your four legged partner will love you for it.
