The Wolfforth Mayor and City Attorney asked the council for a piece of Lubbock land. Wolfforth developers have plans to build a new neighborhood on one square-mile north of Wolfforth, but the City of Lubbock owns half of the property.
"We can't go forward with the development, and do our annexations until such time as the City of Lubbock does that. So, we are pretty much at a stand still while we wait on the council, said Jean Shotts, Wolfforth City Attorney.
Lubbock Council Member Tom Martin says he wants the city to trade land with Wolfforth. Martin does not want to see Lubbock just give away its land. He wants it to be used for the Lubbock Independent School District. The council will have another discussion at the next scheduled council meeting.
