The body of Kristine Noelle Bufkin, 25, was found underneath an overpass in Southeast Lubbock.
Police brought Karen Dee Follis, 45, in for questioning early Monday morning. Since then, investigators have officially named her as a suspect in this case.
Police arrested the second person of interest, 45-year-old Erasmo Rodriguez Sunday afternoon on an outstanding warrant for failure to pay child support.
Police say they want to question Follis and Rodriguez for their possible involvement in Bufkin's death. A driver discovered her body around 11 a.m. Saturday under the Loop 289 overpass at Southeast Drive.
Police say her injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
But investigators say there are many pieces and possible crime scenes to this puzzle.
"The investigation is still ongoing; our detectives have been working painstakingly since the victim's body was found, and they've worked non-stop throughout Saturday and throughout (Sunday)," Stevens said.
Investigators say, several miles away and several hours before the body was found, Lubbock County Sheriff Deputies responded to a one car roll over in East Lubbock County, but there was no driver at the scene. Detectives now say it was the victim's car.
Then, nearly four hours after the body was found, clues led investigators to a suspect's vehicle in the county. Authorities will not confirm if that truck belongs to one of the persons of interest.
If you have information about this case, police ask you to call Crime Line at 741-1000. Callers can remain anonymous.
Police say they are investigating this as both a homicide and a hit and run.
